22. ICN Annual Conference
The President of the Competition Council of BiH, Adisa Begić, and Ivo Jerkić, a member of the BiH Competition Council, attended the ICN annual conference, which was held between October 18-20, 2023, in Barcelona. The 22nd Conference was hosted by The Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC).
Cani Fernández Vicién, president of the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission, welcomed the audience by saying that ICN, as the most important network of competition authorities in the world with 140 competition authorities from 132 jurisdictions, has engaged numerous authorities for the past two decades competition, lawyers, economists, academics and other representatives of the non-governmental sector from around the world in dynamic discussions and projects that promote mutual understanding and effective implementation of market competition and policy throughout the world.
This year’s conference was more attended than any before, with close to 100 jurisdictions and delegations made up of competition authority members and non-governmental sector representatives.
During the conference, participants discussed and exchanged experiences at working group meetings and addressed issues such as interaction with courts, food markets with a focus on developing countries, artificial intelligence and sustainability.
The Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) used the opportunity to highlight its work and contribution to the protection of market competition on the international stage and to present plans for continued cooperation with other bodies that face the same global challenges and difficulties in their work.
