In the framework of supporting the EU integration process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Directorate for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, in the period February 20 and 21, 2024, organized training entitled “Preparations for pre-accession negotiations with EU – Croatia’s experience”.

During the training, held in Sarajevo, the participants were introduced to the stages of negotiations that Croatia has gone through, and which Bosnia and Herzegovina is now expecting.
Dubravka Vlašić Pleše from the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Dubravka Kobaš Lučić from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia shared their immediate observations and experiences gained during the establishment of Croatia’s negotiating structure. The role of the EU coordinator and the EU department in the competent ministries was particularly highlighted, and the concept of screening, criteria for opening and closing negotiations, types of requests for transitional periods, and regular and ad-hoc groups envolved during this process were explained in detail.

On behalf of the Competition Council, Aleksandra Dunjić, Lejla Šaković-Karić, Mirsada Pehilj and Adnan Popara attended the training. The organizers pointed out that this is one of a series of trainings that are necessary to better train the professional capacities necessary to successfully bring the accession negotiations to an end.
